I'm in the USA and I've ripped some dvd's into avi files. I want to put them on a dvd and send them to a friend in ireland. Is there anything special I have to do so that she'll be able to play them on her pc?

Sepero 05-24-2006, 07:35 PM I'm going to pretend that this is all legal, and that "your friend in ireland" already has her own copies of these DVD's. No, there shouldn't be any problems. Just save them as data files, and she should be able to play the on her computer. EDIT: Hey my 2,000th post! WOOT! lol Parcival 05-25-2006, 04:19 AM No, there shouldn't be any problems with it. You are in DVD area code 1 whereas we in Europe have code 2 and they don't mix. However, when you create your own DVD, no area code usually is being written onto it, i.e. it has area code 0 that plays all over the world. Rather than on the area code you have to pay attention on the DVD+/-R thing to make sure she can read the disc (like e.g. the DVD player hooked to my TV only accepts DVD-R). Sepero 05-25-2006, 04:43 AM There is no area code, Parcival. He said he ripped them to avi files. :) Woot, your 2005th post! :) Parcival 05-25-2006, 07:25 AM There is no area code, Parcival. Woot, your 2005th post! :) Yes, I noticed, and now I have think of some nonsense to post everytime you post so I can stay ahead of you. :D Sepero 05-25-2006, 05:30 PM Yes, I knew. Can you tell that I don't own a DVD burner? :) Yes, I noticed, and now I have think of some nonsense to post everytime you post so I can stay ahead of you. :DBetter get to work! lol Parcival 05-25-2006, 06:39 PM Well, a good mod trick to get thousands of posts real quick is to open a computer joke thread. Compare hard candy's joining date with mine. ;) justlinux.com
