Hi,
I had to recently reinstall Slackware 10.1 on my system. Then I installed kernel 2.6.16.
Now my problem is that there is no audio output in xawtv except static (white noise). However the picture output is proper.
Here is the output of lsmod -

and the output of lspci -

I have been struggling with this problem for the past couple of days without success.
Any suggestions?

Doesn't look like a module driver is loaded for the audio, try "modprobe snd-intel8x0m", and see what happens.
There are some other drivers listed here:ALSA (http://www.alsa-project.org/alsa-doc/index.php?vendor=vendor-SiS#matrix)

Maybe also try "alsaconfig" as "su" or root, it may be able to configure it automagickally.

Does your card have audio out jack? Are you trying to get sound out of your sound card or the tuner card?

Hi,
hard candy > sudo /sbin/modprobe snd-intel8x0m gives the following output -
FATAL: Module snd_intel8x0m not found
so what do I do now?

How about "alsaconfig"?
It that doesn't work as well, ALSA module configuration (http://www.alsa-project.org/alsa-doc/doc-php/template.php?company=SiS&card=SiS+745.&chip=SI7013&module=intel8x0m) But first make sure that is the correct driver, I was guessing that you had a specific audio chip.

Xawtv is working fine in PCLinuxOS - my other linux distribution running on the same PC.
What important information can I extract from PCLinuxOS and from which specific config files.
Alsaconf doesn't detect my sound card.
However there is no problem with any other audio programme like xine, xmms, etc. Problem is only with xawtv / tvtime.
