From what I read, modding the graphics on SuperTux is as easy as replacing the original pgn files with other pgn files that have the same file name.
I just tested my skin, by replacing an original pgn file with a pgn file of wolverine.
Wolverine shows up in game. But he has a white box around him. I am sure this has something to do with my file needing a transparency mask.
The original file:

My file:

Can anyone tell me how to give my file a transparency mask in The Gimp?
Thank you kindly. :)

Don't hold me to it but in gimp 2 try going to layer->transperncy select add alpha chanel, then go back and color to alpha. that should do it.
you might want to also select semi-flaten after that, but hey, who am i to judge?

Making Colors in a GIF Transparent (http://aplawrence.com/Linux/crousegif.html)
This also works for PNGs. You will need to add an alpha channel, then select and "clear" the white pixels. Clearing them (edit->clear, not the delete key) will set them to fully transparent when there's an alpha channel.
Then export it as a PNG again, and the transparent stuff should still be transparent. To test, you can stick it on a webpage that has a colored background; the background color should come through the transparent areas of the PNG. (Assuming you don't use IE to view it. ;))

Thank you kindly. It works fine now. :)
Once this is done, I may increase tuxes speed (its adjustable through the level editor) and try to put Sonic The Hedgehog sprites into the game.
Its a lot of fun and very modable.
Anyone know of a linux clone of Super Double Dragon? The game style is 1 (or 2) players fight all the enemies on the screen. They walk right, (or left - depends on the level) the screen moves and more bad guys pop up etc. Its one of my favorite games and I wondered if there was any game like that for linux. Also, you can walk up and down, not just left and right.

You could always try an emulator. there are great snes and nes emulators for linux. In fact they are even in my package manager. I would try zsnes for your snes needs. Once you get your emulator you need to find some roms.
Now roms are of questionable legality so i wont tell you where to get them. The are not that hard to find so i dont think the mfgs of the games care to much. I think its a tolerated sort of thing. Hopefully the mods wont consider this a post about warez.

I love supertux too. The moment I saw it, it reminded me of the super mario games that I gained so much pleasure from as a child. I love the way that the game offers a fulfillable challenge, making it satisfying. Is there a fan site where you can download the mods that people make?
