Is there any way to make linux start up
without going through the STARTX thing?
Basicly faster then it is now.I don't want to write down text when its starting up.Is this possible?? :confused: :confused: :confused: :confused: :confused: :confused: :confused: :confused:

You mean you want to boot automatically to whatever gui you are using.
If you are at the point where you can type 'startx' then "Linux" is already up and running.
Edit /etc/inittab and change the runlevel from 3 to 5.
# Default runlevel.

I think this works on some distros but not others. That will give you a graphical login screen on certain distros.

I wasn't really certain what Manish meant by the question. I figured what I posted may be what he/she is looking for.

Well, on the ones where 5 doesn't work, 4 should. The distro should tell you in the inittab file...
