Thanks to XGL, and how fun it is with Gnome, I'm giving it another test driver, though I'm having a problem, and due to lack of working with Gnome, this will sound like a very newbish question.

Were is the system tray, or what ever Gnome calls it. I run programs like Amarok, and Azureus, yet there is no sign of a system tray. This makes working with theis apps nearly impossible. I know gnome has one, though in goofing with it I seem to have misplaced it. =P

No, when you start Amarok, or Azureus an Icon appears in the System Tray. In KDE it's where things like the Kmixer, and Klipboard are, next to the clock.

Ok, it came back? I think I remeber why I didn't like Gnome, it has a mind of it's own. :p

Nah, I'm actually having lots of fun with it. I plan on making a hybrid using KDE, and Gnome, becuase I like them both, and then I hate them both.

I downloaded Koroora (sp?) to try out XGL. I have to say that is absolutely flippin cool.

I think I will wait for the next Ubuntu release in June to grab Xgl full time but it should be fun.

Not to make this a "better than" desktop environment thread but I agree with you on Gnome. It has some niceties but I feel KDE is just better polished and integrated.

Yeah, though the biggest problem with Xgl is the fact you can't play games while using it, I mean Quake 4, and Doom 3, not Super Tux, and application like video players at full screen seem to have lag issues.
