Knoppmyth sound issue

I recently installed knopmyth and I run into a intersting issue. I first had the sound connected to my auxillary cdrom connector of my turtle beach santa cruz. It could play sound every time i turned on the tv but i could not pause the sound. It was not bound to the program at all. Recording would grab video but not the sound. I first tried plugging in the line out cable on the back of the card into the line in on the back of the sound card. The i tried swapping the sound cards thinking it might be a dma issue or whatnot.

So my question is this how do i tell the mythtv program which sound source to use in recording. Is it in alsamixer. I just haven't seen it yet.
