RAID1 locks system

I recompiled my kernel.. 2.4.5, and compiled raid1 into the kernel, (not as a
module).. Anyway, I have set up a raid1 system, as per instructed by software
raid howto... (i'm running raid on two partitions on 2 different ide disks,
which are on two separate busses)... I can boot the system fine, but once i
start RAID, it demenishes... I can raidstart /dev/md0, mount /dev/md0
/mnt/server, and then cruse through /mnt/server for awhile, it works fine... if
i leave it set there for a good 10 minutes or so, then the whole system locks
up, (no blinking cursor).. Have any idea what to do?

Since I have no experience/knowledge of Raid and Linux, I would suggest you try the included Raid docs/howto's installed on your system or at www.linuxdoc.org (http://www.linuxdoc.org) and start searching Google for possible similiar problems and hopefully the solution.
