Well, you've all seen my earlier topic about linux not booting after a RAM upgrade I did. So, I tried reinstalling, and no dice. I installed '98 just to make sure my memory was fine, and it was. So, when I try to install RH, I get the following messages:
crc errorFreeing initrd memory: 2046k freed
EXT2-fs: unable to read superblock
cramfs: wrong magic
isofs_read_super: bread failed, dev=09:02, iso_blknum=16, block=32
Kernel panic: VFS: Unable to mount root fs on 09:02
Any ideas anyone?

You probably put your ram in upside down or backwards ( I made this mistake before and my computer didn't even boot up)

Unable to mount root fs on 09:02 is either a dma problem, a cd drive problem or a bad burn.
You could try passing on nodma during the the install process or disable (if possible) dma in the bios.

Typical of you, but not of many others here.

If that were the case, wouldn't the '98 installation have errored out/not worked either? My computer seems to be working just fine with '98...

Well, I don't think it's a bad burn, and I've tried it on two different RH installation cd's, and I get the same error. I'll try the dma thing though...

I found someone with the exact same problem here (http://www.linuxquestions.org/questions/history/12520) and it turned out to be a faulty drive (which watts above already suggested). Sorry if that doesn't help any, but that's about all I found :(

I would suggest you try Redhat's online documentation and support site to see what parameters are available to disable dma etc. during the install process.
That or maybe the docs/readme's on the install cd.

Forgot about this...
Is your cdrom connected as secondary/master? I seem to remember that some have problems installing if the cdrom is not S/M (hdc).
