I get into a loop when I try to DL the latest nvidia drivers. I have done this several times without any problem, but not this time. It does the FTP download, drops to a terminal, and does this:
Verifying archive integrity... OK
Uncompressing NVIDIA Accelerated Graphics Driver for Linux-x86 1.0-8178.............................................. .................................................. .................................................. .................................................. .................................................. ..............................

That's what I recall before, but THEN, it immediately starts the DL process again.
This happens whether or not X is running at the DL time. What can this be?

There should be a log in /var/log called nvidia-installer.log check out that file and perhaps there is an error msg pertaning to why it doesnt like the file its trying to download. mabye its getting a corrupt one or something...

Have you tried just going to the nvidia site and just grapping the newest driver manually?

Sounds like a bad checksum to me, too.

Yup, getting directly from nvidia did it, gnu driver installed, all is well, and thanks, folks
