Hi There

Has anyone been successful in getting 3D acceleration on the Intel 845G graphics chipset (using the i810 driver) using Slackware 10.2? 3D acceleration works great using a llgp-0.1pre0 live-cd (based on Knoppix) on the same system. However nothing I have tried has worked so far on Slack 10.2, including copying the the XF8Config-4 file from the live-cd. I would be extremely grateful for possible solutions including a funtional xorg.conf file.

Cheers

Did you check the kernel version? Is the live cd using a different kernel then slackware 10.2? You may have to compile a newer kernel to get it supported properly.

According to this hit (http://www-uxsup.csx.cam.ac.uk/pub/doc/suse/suse9.2/suselinux-adminguide_en/ch11s03.html) from a G4L, the Intel 845G should use the DRI module for 3D acceleration. There was also this page (http://www.die.net/doc/linux/man/man4/i810.4.html) as well. Hope those help.

I've got the 855 w/i810 driver working perfectly on -current. The DRI advice would be a good place to start. My xorg.conf is below (it contains a couple of extra things, but also holds the stuff you need).
