When I try to play an audio CD with CDplayer (i think that's the program, i'm at work right now so i can't look and see) the sound comes out all distorted. It says it can't find the proper CDDB, or something. Does anyone know what this means and how do i fix it?

cddb is an internet database, where all song titles of every cd are saved... so its probably not part of your sound problem

Forget about cddb.
Have you installed the drivers yourself or did the installation find them ?
What distro are you using ?

I have not installed the drivers myself. I guess they were (or weren't) installed when i installed linux. And i'm running Mandrake 8.0.
