hi!
i have a mandriva box on 192.168.x.x, i have another win2k box having two nics at 192.168.x.x and 223.255.x.x (thus the two can talk via the 192.168.x.x network). what should i do so that my box would appear like 223.255.x.x and thus connect to the 223.255.x.x network?
thank you!

hmm..
i was thinking if it would be possible for my box (192.168.x.x) to talk to other PCs in the 223.255.x.x segment thru the win2k box having two NICs that is currently connected to both (192.168.x.x and 223.255.x.x0 networks.

you would need to setup a network bridge, or just get a router ;)

I tried to use win2k as a NAT box once....it didn't work. Never pressed it, just got something that _did_ work. ;-)

You don't want a router if you want the computers on the same subnet. I should think the best solution would be to use a switch to connect both the win2k box and the mandriva box directly to the same subnet. You might be able to use the win2k box to bridge the two connections, but I have a feeling that this feature wasn't added until XP.
