Hi guyzzz as you can see I just switched from windows to Linux SUSE 9.3 professional, and my problem is Im a biggest NOOB in here. Linux looks completely alien to me. We dont have all this **** in Windows. it seems to be very complicated. First I would like to know how to open and install ".exe" files? then what commands DO I need to know to opperate this freaking system, and I have a problem using console, terminal or whatever the F**k it is. Please Help me anybody, all I can do right now is "USing INternet" thats it. I cant install software or hardware, or at least give me directions to what software I should use.

Thanks. your help will be greatly apppppreciated

.exe files don't work on Linux. If you did a standard install, you have most everything already installed. Click on your 'start' icon.

1) Why do you want to open a console? Not required.
2) Your hardware is probably all installed automatically, if you plug something new in, it will ask you if you want to configure it.
3) Do you have the manuals?

You might do well to select "Start" --> Suse Help Center then run through the Suse Linux Userguide and the section on KDE introduction.

I can about guarantee you this thread will be locked because there is nothing specific we can help you with. Do you want to install 'Nero' for example, no, you can't. Use the native app K3B. You want winamp, not happening, but you have a choice of XMMS, Juk, Amorok, NoAtun, Realplayer, Kplayer and probably 14 more big ones.

Follow my sig to find the names of Linux native applications that do what the same as the windows equivalent. Most of them are on your CD, waiting to be installed with Yast as easy as 4 mouse clicks away or are already installed.

So, take a deep breath, realize that Linux is different, not harder, different. Welcome to a virus/trojan/spamware/spyware free operating system.

Please check our posting guidelines, link is to be found in my signature. Most of all, post with a title that relates to your problem and - when you have multiple questions that aren't related - split them up into individual threads.

The guys who posted above already gave you a couple good tipps. However, if you are not familiar with SuSE, the SuSE handbooks are the best point to start from because they are excellently written. And no, Linux is not Windows. Maybe you should have thought about that before installing it.
