well, i kinda scewed up while upgrading it, now whenever i alt-tab that little bar stays there and i'm forced to ctrl-alt-backspace it. My question, what do i need to do to do a full reinstall? i just apt-get installed task-kde, but nothing depends on it, so only it would be removed. Also, i have lots of 3rd party programs that require kde to work that i don't want removed. Any suggestions?

what little bar?

apt-get remove task-kde?

(I'm confused by your question so my answer may be wrong. but you never need to reinstall debian because the package management is good).

whenever you hit alt-tab and hold it in kde, a little bar appears in the middle of the screen that shows all open windows, and lets you choose which you want. For me, that little bad never leaves, and i'm not able to continue to use kde.

also, i don't want to reinstall debian, i need to reinstall kde.
