I'm trying to get my system set up so it can play DVDs. I went to Linuxdoc.org and checked out the HowTo, and it said that I need MTRR and DVD ioctl support.
It said that MTRR has been in the kernel since 2.2.x, but I'd probably have to patch for DVD ioctl. But I thought that was already included in the kernel and didn't require a patch (since 2.4.x).
I'm using Mandrake 8.0. Do I need to patch the kernel? If not, I know I have to recreate the symlink in the /dev/ directory from /dev/cdrom2 to /dev/dvd. Is there a HowTo or a FAQ somewhere to walk me through this?
Thanks!
