I recently installed vmware I want it to boot from my existing windows partition which is /dev/hda1 but it wants me to install windows again...
Any way to get it boot with already-installed windows?
Btw i want to emulate XP....

It doesn't work that way.
You must install from scratch for each virtual machine you create, unless, you are using one of their "Guest OS kits".
You should still be able to get to the windows data.

That's not true.
You CAN use an existion installation. But it's not recommended unless you're super-guru. You've gotta use some RAW-drive mode or something like that. You can read about it at their homepage. I believe it's in the installation instructions.
Good Luck!
