Hi all,

I put a post in the hardware section about a problem that I am having relating to this, but I wanted to post here to get information about something in the pcmcia part of linux called Yenta. When I try to boot, i get the line
Starting pcmcia: Yenta IRQ list 06b0, PCI irq 11
Socket status: 30000006

Then the machine beeps (sometimes) and locks...have to unplug the machine to power down.

What is this Yenta, and what is its purpose in life?

thanks

I believe the "yenta" you are referring to is the module used to load support for pcmcia. The beep that you sometimes hear is probably a pcmcia card you have plugged in.

there are more words for putz (including putz) in yittish than prolly most other languages, but i don't think yenta is one of them :o

yenta is actually the term used for a jewish matchmaker (i believe that is correct)

the beep that i hear only happens sometimes. The card gets activiated (ethernet card), but the machine still refuses to continue on. Even without the card plugged in, the machine still freezes at that same point.

I am totally clueless about this one

Is this a new feature that was added recently? is it a redhat module or is it a standard Linux module?
