Help Me Please

I have windows XP Professional :D right now I would like to have the ablity to run 2 different OS's on my pc I would like to run Linux what do I do? Were do I start? Where do I get the files needed to run 2 OS's? :confused: Do I have to partion my hard drive? will that clear my hard drive if I have to partion it? Basicly I would like some one to point me in the right direction to get started with runing 2 OS's thanks for the help LateRZ!!! :confused:
