To All:
I just want to thank you all for the words and tons of information that is available here. I have worked on getting on-line with Linux for a little short of 6 months--what a journey. I can now say that all of the reading and work has paid off. :D

Thanks again

I think that of all the config problems I've had with Linux, getting online was the most frustrating. Bought a PCI modem that was supposed to be Linux supported, but not even tech support could get the damn thing running (even after I sent them acomplete log of all my hardware, IRQ's, etc.) Eventually gave up and bought a good extrenal, and life has been good ever since. Congrats.

Great news...

I can now say that all of the reading and work has paid off.

That's the trick to it. Read the prior posts and use the search function here.

The search function takes forever here...

It would be much easier if I didn't have to wait 15 minutes for my search results to come up (really!). I think they should employ a new search engine here to speed things up..!

Only take 15 min if you search all open forums (stupid thing to do). Takes a matter of seconds if you only search General linux Questions or Technical support. Let's face it...you won't find any info on configuring your NIC in Off Topic or LNO Devel.

Exactly. Just narrow down your search. Works for me. Of course off hours would speed up the search.

True..

But there have been times I've been looking for a perl solution and found it not in the scripts/programming forum, but in the technical support forum.. :)

I will be smarter in my searches next time. =)
