It has come to the point where I'm going to have to start from scratch and do a reinstall. Why, do I hear you ask? Well, it's a lot more complicated than that. To put it in as little words as possible: it got zapped. I lost pretty much everything, and I'm not happy about it.

But that is not what I'm here about, (although you soon may see me in the 'rants forum')... what I want to know is...

"Which linux should I install?"

...Now I know this has been many a topic before, and I know that I'm going to get a squillion answers, but it's a start :D

This computer will pretty much be used for everything, but mainly games. Is there the linux for this kind of thing? What are my options. I was using RedHat 7, but I've had many troubles getting that to work the way I want it.

...just want to know what my options are...

*steps aside*

This is your que...

Well, if you don't already know, Linux support for games is pretty low. So any version of Linux will probably be the same.

Check out yesterdays post on Slashdot (http://slashdot.org/article.pl?sid=01/11/10/1619248&mode=thread) which points to a new editorial on Distrowatch (http://www.ditrowatch.com/game.htm). Gives a pretty concise look at damn near all of the 40 or so major distros.

I prefer Slackware for it's stability and control, although the learning curve is slightly longer than Redhat.
