I recently installed Slackware 10 - a bit of my installation from disc 1 near the end was scratched so some of the apps didn't get installed properly...I didn't think much of it and proceeded with the installation.......now it seems gcc didn't get installed along with gawk.....so now I am in catch 22...

I try to install gcc...but you need to be in a different directory to do it....can someone tell me how to do this via an EXAMPLE....also, do I need a c compiler to instasll gcc? catch22.....????

Thanks.

Adrian

look --- slackware has binary package management. thus if you want to install gcc you can just download a binary package to install it.

look around the net for things like swaret and slapt-get and many more slackware package managers and then use them to install gcc

I did for 2 hours before posting. If I remember correctly....even swaret needs to be compiled with a c compiler...

You can get binary packages from any of the slackware mirror sites, such as:
