I have decided to give linux another try, and this time it is with Kubuntu.

I am liking this distro much better, as more things just 'work' ou tof the box, so I am able to explore more without getting as frustrated.

But on to my question...
I have my onboard Nforce2 sound and the Chaintek AV710. Right now the onboard sound works, but my chaintek doesn't. When I do into my Kmixer, it shows 2 cards, but the chaintek isnt outputting any sound. When I go into the alsa mixer via a terminal, it only shows the nforce2, so I think my problem lays here, but I do not know how to fix it.

Thanks in advance for any suggestions.

Alright, I had the same problem.

I have an nForce 2 chipset motherboard, and I wanted it to use my SoundBlaster Live! 5.1.

What you have to do is go into your bios, and disable the onboard sound card. Now if you want to use the onboard sound card, and the other one, then I have no clue how to fix it. I'm sure there's a way, I just thought turning the onboard sound card threw bios was the easiest.
