Hi. I am running Caldera eDesktop 2.4 right now. I have gotten Netscaope 4.72 to work quite well through my windows proxy. The proxy software it is running is called Wingate, if that matters at all to anyone.

So, now, I set the proxy settings all up in Netscape, and it runs like a cat being chased by a rabid dog. (very well) And now I am running into a problem. I can't seem to get any of the other programs to access the internet. I got AIM 4.3 to work, because there are proxy settings to set there in the software.

I am wanting to get lynx to work, and just any other software that SHOULD work.. Right now when I run lynx it just sits there for a while (about a minute) and then says:

Looking up www.linux.com. (http://www.linux.com.)
Unable to locate remote host www.linux.com. (http://www.linux.com.)
Alert!: Unable to connect to remote host.

Again, I am running Caldera eDesktop... What should I do? Thanks for the help...

Is there a configuration option for lynx? How about a config file? You'll need to find these things and enter your proxy settings. Try "lynx --help" or "man lynx" and see what that does.

Since Netscape is working, I doubt this could be the problem. Are the dns servers setup in /etc/resolv.conf?

Wouldn't think it would be a fault of eDesktop. You could search their knowledgebase here (http://support.calderasystems.com/caldera) and also check for any updates. See your other post on the subject.
