ok, i installed rh 8.0 via cd and it immediatley boots from cd and kicks off the installation.
i went to install 9.0 and all i get w/ cd1 is grub>. i downloaded 2 different iso's and it was the same thing. what am i doing wrong, or what do i do to kick off the installation? 8.0 worked on this same machine.
TIA.

as far as i know the redhat installer doesn't use grub as a boot loader. if you're seeing grub then your system is probably not booting off the CD but rather just jumping to the first hard drive.
I would
1) make sure the boot order is set in the bios to check the CD-Rom drive first
2) if it already is you may have a bad cd-rom drive... try another if you can get ahold of one
3) rh9 is OLD news... unless you have a specific application you are wanting to use rh9 for you might try fedora core (http://fedora.redhat.com/)
hope this helps a little...
