Hey all -
I've downloaded and installed flash_linux.tar.gz from the macromedia site, but every time that I visit a site with flash, mozilla freezes up and I need to XKill it.
I checked the about :plugins page in mozilla and both Shockwave Flash and FutureSplashPlayer show up in the list. Strangely enough, though, when I pulled up the about :plugins page, for some reason my system starts to slow down.
I've redownloaded the tar.gz and reinstalled it, but to no avail.
Any suggestions?
TIA
leo

Did it work in the other browsers you have install on your system(Netscape 4.7)? If it's not working it would be best if you file a bug report at the Mozilla website. I never try it so I wouldn't know.

What version of mozilla are you using?

I don't think it's a Mozilla bug. If he downloads Netscape 6.1 or 6.2 I guarantee he'll have the exact same problem. I did.
And I never figured out how to fix it. I just got lucky and when Redhat 7.2 came out, I upgraded to it, and it came with Mozilla .9.2 something, and I downloaded the .9.5 rpm and upgraded it, and the flash and everything worked fine...

When I tried installing flash on Netscape (4.77), it froze up too. I'm running Drake 8, so I should upgrade to 8.1 just to get flash working? Or wait... I should probably get the Drake specific Mozilla RPM and install that, huh? I initially downloaded the tar.gz and installed that way... could it be that the .tar.gz of .9.5 isn't compatible with Drake 8?

yeah - they are both in
/usr/lib/mozilla/plugins/
For some reason, Drake installed mozilla there by default, so I decided to keep it there.
I know that mozilla sees em, because I can check the about -> plugins menu, and flash shows up...
