HI all I have recently purchased and installed an evga geforce 6600gt which i used to replace my old geforce fx 5200. after I installed it, i installed the newest nvidia driver and ran glxgears and was amazed at the results of 4601 fps. I was amazed because my scores with my 5200 were around 800. so being highly excited about being able to have heroic graphics I started up UT2004 and was shocked to discover that my grassy knoll fps score was the exact same as my old 5200. so Is there some new confiuguration change I need to make, re-install UT2004, or am I going to end up buy a new cpu as well (currently an intel celeron 2.4). I know my cpu royally sucks and if it ends up I have to replace it, it wont be a major tragedy but If anybody has any ideas as to why my performance is totally crappy go ahead and give me a reply.

well, after trying it my computer:

intel celeron 2.4 ghz
512 mb ddr pc2100
running slackware 10.1 w/current nvidia drivers
350watt power supply

I decided to try it in my dads computer:

intel pentium 4 2.4
512mb ddr pc2100
running windows xp w/current nvidia drivers
350watt power supply

I got the same crappy results on his computer as well. I am not so sure that it is the fact that the computer is a celeron. now i think the reason is that since the graphics card takes and external power supply and both of my computers have 350 watt power supplies, the intense graphics suck because its just not getting enough juice.

even though I think I might have it figured out I would still like some replies to give some different suggestions. I am not a genius i just want to get this thing figured out.

thanks

how exactly do you get a "grassy knoll fps score"?
I have a 6800GT and I'll check it out for you.

its an 8x agp slot, and my "grassy knoll" score is just my average fps on the ctf level "grassy knoll" with my 5200 i would get inbetween 10-25 fps and now that I have installed my new 6600gt i still get 10-25 fps on all of the same quality settings.

can anybody tell me what fps they are getting with a geforce 6 series on the grassy knoll level. If you dont know how to monitor you gameplay fps, all you have to do is hit tilde and they type"STAT FPS". any reply would be helpful, thanks.
