Looking for software for my camcorder

I'm looking for software to transfer video from my Sony minicam to my SuSE 9.0 Linux. The cam uses mimiDV tapes. Also, any recommendations for editing before burning to DVD in mpeg2 format? Thanks.

Try using Kino for transfering and editing, then you can use Avidemux2 to convert to mpeg2. When saving the files in Kino use DV AVI Type 2, as Avidemux can't handle Type 1.
