I was recently switched from @home to charter pipeline and I am having an odd problem. Rather than try to deal with some moron customer service rep I thought I would ask here.

My dhcpcd connects, and I get access, but is only for like 1 min at a time, then it is off for 1-2, and then it switches back, etc. I was wondering if this could be due to anything in my setup, or if it is probably something which is charter's fault.
Thanks,
kuber

If you mean that your box loses its DHCP lease in that short amount of time, I doubt that the problem is on your end. Off the top of my head I can't think of any configuration settings on your side of things which would cause that to happen.

I had a little bit of trouble during the transistion as well, but it mostly revolved around the tech support people not even being able to give me the new DNS IPs. Mentioning my "unsupported operating system" just confused them even more.

Sorry I can't help with your particular problem, but it doesn't sound like something that would be caused by mis-configuration on your end.

That's interesting, hmmmm
Most cable modems have a led that shows it has synched up with the cable. How is yours behaving at these times? Does Charter need/have your eth0 and modem MAC addies? Can you substitute a Windoze box for testing? How much lease time are you getting for the IP? Does the IP change when it goes away, and comes back? What distro?
