mandrake question

hello all,
now i'm using mandrake about 5 days, before using mandrake, i'm using redhat. now i have some question about mandrake :

- in redhat, usually i changed my path in /etc/profile, but seems have no effects to mandrake

- about quota, in redhat, i'm doing quotacheck, quotaon, making quota.user and quota.group, then edquota, everything is run successfully, and it doesn't take effect to my mandrake.

- for example, if i want to share my file to windows 95 client, then i make some changes in smb.conf, my computer name is appear at client computer, but still not accessible although i make section like this
[public]
browable = yes
writeable = yes
guest ok = yes

testparm is ok, but still cannot accessible

anyone can help me ? really, i don't want comparing about rh and mdk, but just wanna my system working properly....

I've heard there are a few bugs in Mandrake 8 since it's still quite new. Have you researched at www.linux-mandrake.com (http://www.linux-mandrake.com) for anything related to your questions? I'm not a Mandrake user, so I cannot really help you with this. Just didn't want to see your thread go unanswered.
