Hello...

I’m new to Linux so I’ll try to be brief :)

I have RedHat7 and I want to install Zend Optimizer.

but I found that there is to files to install

one is for: glibc21
and the other is:libc5

so witch one should I install for my RedHat7?
and why?
and whets the deference between them?

My box is i386

many thanks

I have mandrake witch is similar to red hat. mandrake has both libraries installed it shouldn't hurt unless libc6 is not compatible with libc5. if your installing from the source files the docs should tell you. if from binaries then I'm not sure were to look. hope this helps...

Install the glibc version. The libc is for those who havn't upgraded to a glibc version. Redhat 5.1 I think have been using glibc. They were the first if I am not mistaken, it was pretty controversial, almost like the compiler thing with version 7; however using glibc wasn't a mistake like the compiler is.
