Im gonna dl a new distro now, and I want to know if it would be better to install Mandrake or Red Hat (the newest releases). I just need to use it until Slack 7.2 comes out (its not even BETA yet!!). I asking those of you who have tried Mandrake 8/Red Hat 7.1 only....b/c i already know about the distros and have used them since the early days :)

I just ordered Q3A and SoF, and I really dont feel like going to track down those 3dfx drivers for my voodoo3 (3dfx is dead!). I just want the easiest quick fix so i can get a running linux system that can do 3D with as little hassle as possible.

No flames here, just tell me your experiences with the latest mandrake and Red Hat releases...

Dood - slack-current is sweet! And, it comes with X 4.03... which sorta sucks for 3d with a V3. Anyway, you can get a iso of -current that is updated every wednesday at 3am. The ftp site has been posted a few times here recently.

Anyway, all the 3dfx stuff needed for X4.0x can be gotten from teh XFree86.org website.

And, if you want to stick with X 3.3.5/6, the files for 3d are at www.linuxvoodoo.com (http://www.linuxvoodoo.com) and here (ftp://ftp.santafe.cc.fl.us/Academic/Cat/linux/0index.htm)
