Hi folks,

Fedora Core 3

I'm prepared to join a live presentations via Internet. The company holding the presentations requires participants equipped with live phone connection. They also require M$Windows Media player and Livemeeting to join the presentations.

I haven't had a M$Windows box with those software running. Please advise would it be possible to join the presentations with a Linux box? TIA

i highly doubt it is possibly. firstly if it requires a newer version of WMP (you didn't say what version) then you can't because only older ones will work under wine... and this LiveMeeting thing looks like proprietary microsoft software as well which i doubt will run under wine. you could try but but i think it would be a futile attempt.

Hi Hayl,

Tks for your advice.

firstly if it requires a newer version of WMP (you didn't say what version)..Sorry, they haven't mentioned. I can ask if there will be a chance using a Linux box joining the net presentation mentioned.

you might be able to do it with gnomemeeting? or mplayer?

I have actually tried this on a Unisys Webinar in the exact same format. Mplayer worked for the WMA part, but the LiveMeeting plugin was a showstopper. Ironically, it was a presentation on Linux in the Enterprise. I made sure to mention that in my evaluation of the seminar.

If you have a Windows box around, the presentation should work through Firefox, though.

Hi folks,

I made a search on Gnomemeeting and was advised that LiveMeeting is using SIP only. It is not supported by Gnomemeeting. Any idea from other Open Source software.

TIA
