i purchased SuSE today after reading several positive posts around the web.
Installing SuSE 7.1 personal edition on a windows box with windows 98SE upgraded to windows ME. harddrive is 40+gigs with less than 5 gigs used.
During the "preparing hard disk step-2" portion of the install, SuSE trys to "shrink" the windows partition and an error occurs: "your windows partition has errors in the file system" it asks me to "boot windows and run scandisk/defrag". i tried it and it does nothing. no errors and same problem happens.
the same error tells me if the problem occurs again next time shrink the partition by other means. what does this mean?
what does it mean by errors in the file system of the partition ? ive never used/installed linux before.
anyone interested in helping..thanks in advance. this link is to the techspex for my windows box/not sure if its needed http://www.hp.com/cgi-bin/cposupport/get_doc.pl?SNI=hppavilion21024&LC=personal_computing&Tfile=bph05813
i have already sent this information to SuSE tech support but being that its a holiday weekend for some i figured this forum might be a bit quicker. :D Tanx!
