Debian 'Sarge' with 2.6.8-2-k7 kernel

I have 4 computers in the network, two are XPs, one is Debian and the last one is Windows 2003 Server (AD).

I can access my Debian machine from Windows no problem since I have Samba installed, but not the other way round.

I can see the Windows Network, which is called 'enterprise' and in it I can see the four machines.

I see 192.168.0.2 in resolv.conf already and that is the domain/dns address of the Windows 2003 Server. Does it need anything else or that is all I need?

I used the username/password that I use on Windows and created an account on my Debian PC (administrator/xxxxx).

I double-click on one of the Windows machines (the server especially) and it kept denying me access.

The basic question- is file sharing for unix networks enabled on the Windows machines?
Is the password being translated correctly by Samba? Some characters do not carry over from Unix/Linux to Windows and vice versa.
