To make a long story short, at work they have started to setup a nt4 server with a share and give us all logins, etc. They are using this as an excuse to take administrator rights from us on the computers (we're dsl and dialup tech support so its something handy to have on win2k machines). I think I can convince them to drop this if I can get some sharing setup on linux.

How would be the best way to go about setting this up on a slack box up there? I'm thinking setup samba with some space? Will I then need to also put each user into the linux box and have them login to it?
....relatively new to sharing
Thanks all!

The thing is to decide how to manage their passwords.

It would be kind of cool if there was a web interface for changing samba passwords but I'm not sure if there is.

But other than changing the password I don't think there is any point where they would need to actually log into a linux shell.

BOB-HATER?

I thought that Soy Bomb (http://www.unet.univie.ac.at/~a9030134/dylan/gallery98-3.htm) was a misguided fan. Not a hater.

After all, he was just getting down...

Ps. Modal windows are the most unhelpful UI invention since Microsoft Bob. Trying to enter a URL with Mozilla is a pain in the behind. Someday I will be king and I will ban modal windows.
