Macros for keyboards

Kinesis has keyboards that allow you to store macros in the keyboard. Obviously, the keyboards that have this capability are more expensive than those that don't.

I don't know exactly how the macros work, but I guess you have to set them to key combinations. I'll email Kinesis about this.

Anyway, how could create macros like this with software?

Here (http://kinesis-ergo.com/professional.htm) is a keyboard that allows for macros.
