Hi, im using Mandrake 10.1 Official and I've recently been using the Auto-updater (damn Mandrake for now having apt-get !!!!)
Anyway...
All updates done and installed but KDE is still 3.2

I know its not a major issue, but anyone know how to install a newer KDE on Mandrake without going throught much hassle?

Thanks.

You could use urpmi and change where it looks for the packages. You can point it to the cooker sources or see if the urpmi tree has been setup for the 2005 Limited Edition yet. If it has just change urpmi so it uses those sources and upgrade KDE from there. That'll give you the latest, greatest KDE supported by Mandrake. The cooker sources aren't declared to be stable so keep that in mind if you decide to go that route.

When I upgraded to 3.3 I just grabbed all the KDE and libkde packages from here (http://rpm.nyvalls.se/10.0/RPMS/).

Thanks for the links and info.
I really "cant be asked" to do anything as drastic as installing it manually.
I think I'll just wait for a newer Distro that comes with the magazines ;)

Thanks anyway

Then why ask us? Changing where mandrake downloads the files isn't that complicated, and neither is downloading the rpms yourself and installing them that way.

o_O.

erm... ok
I just asked a question, no need to get cocky

I wasn't getting cocky.. didn't mean to come off that way..

I just was wondering why you were asking if you really didn't want to do it.. There's a lot of people (myself included) who post useless stuff and ask pointless questions here. I really wasn't trying to be mean. I apologize.

Try this: http://easyurpmi.zarb.org/

Select cooker as your version and it will tell you exactly what you need to do to set it up so it will use the cooker RPM's.

Sorry for the misunderstadning, gosh you should see some of the posters in the Eighties Matchbox (a rock band) forum and how awfully insulting they can get.

Nice forum here
