Hello,

I am using a Dell L433c.
Specs:
433Mhz Celeron
128MB PC100 RAM
Voodoo4 4500 32MB PCI
Dell E550 15'' Monitor
XFree86 Version: 4.02

Ok, my question is that when I installed Linux my screen was flickering around the window edges and it was also dim. I researched for a day or to and then figured out how to use xvidtune. I clicked apply and it made my screen perfect (after I changed some settings). My screen was bright and crisp just like it should be. Then I clicked "show" and copied the modeline it gave me in the console. I added "Modeline "dellmon" <settings from xvidtune here>" to my monitor section of my \etc\X11\XF86Config-4 file. I logged out of X then back in and my screen was now crisp but it is now back to dim. I don't know how I can fix this. My monitor specs are here:

Horizontal scan range 31 kHz to 54 kHz (automatic)
Vertical scan range 50 Hz to 120 Hz (automatic)
Optimal preset resolution 800 x 600 at 85 Hz
Highest preset resolution 1024 x 768 at 60 Hz
Highest addressable resolution* 1024 x 768 at 65 Hz

or you can see them more detailed here: http://support.dell.com/docs/monitors/e550/en/specs.htm

Can anyone help me? This didn't happen with my old video chipset (i810) and the monitor, i'm thinking it might be a combonation of my new Voodoo4 4500 videocard and my monitor. I have my old i810 videochipset disabled in the BIOS and my new one in a PCI slot. Thanks for anyone that can help.
