Hi all,
I was thinking of trying Debian but would like to know what kernel ships with release 2.2r4? The Debian site says 2.2.19 but I was hoping the site just hasn't been updated.
Thanks

I haven't tried it but I'd be willing to bet that that was probably accurate.
After all the newest 2.2 kernel is 2.2.20.
Someone has woody iso's on the net or woody boot disks. Perhaps you'd prefer those.

bah! No biggie, compiling your own kernel is always a good choice anyway :)

The version of woody I installed 2 months ago had 2.2.19

hm.. that's pretty funny that woody comes with 2.2.
apt-cache search kernel-image | grep 2.4
and install the kernel you want.
You can probably do this with potato as well but I say that you will be happier with woody.

you can also use something called kernel-package that lets you build your own custom kernel deb's, its the greatest thing since sliced bread.

Debian potato (stable) runs with 2.2.19. However Adrian Bunk made all the packages available (http://www.fs.tum.de/~bunk/kernel-24.html) to run 2.4.x on potato. Woody comes with all these packages anyway so that it's no problem to run the latest 2.4.x version.
