What is your 'default kernel'? It shipped with 2.4.7-10, you can get 2.4.9-13 off the RedHat site
Kernel 2.4.9-13 (http://www.it.redhat.com/download/update/7.2/en/os/i386/kernel-source-2.4.9-13.i386.rpm)

if you go to the ftp site, look under the rawhide distro. i grab the newsest kernels out of there, never had a problem with them.

... I know you can download the new kernel and install it... I've done that... I'm looking for the source... you know... so that when i go into /usr/src i see:
redhat linux-2.4 and linux-2.4.7-10
and then run such commands at make menuconfig
thank you,
Will

Isn't that kind of old?
Go to kernel.org and grab 2.4.16

I have Mandrake 8.0 on one of my partitions and I had (almost) no problem installing the kernel 2.4.15, and since Mandrake is derived from Redhat, I think you could compile the new kernel 2.4.16...
Good luck!

um....... 2.4.15 is known to cause file system curroption. I SERISOUSLY suggest you upgrade to 2.4.16
