Ok, I bought myself a domain name from networksolutions.com. "domain.com" or whatever. I have a static IP at home and apache seems to be working well. i.e. "66.66.66.66" will display my web-page.

I had the option to configure my DNS server and from what I've read, that will "connect" (for lack of a better word) domain.com to 66.66.66.66

I guess my question is..

Do I use the DNS servers of my ISP or do I have to create my own? Where would be a good place to start looking? I've tried a google search but really don't know the right way to phrase my question.

I'm sorry if this is the wrong board, I just figured someone could point me in the right direction

Thanks...

When you register the name to a host, Network Solutions is going to want two authorative name servers. This is where a web host would usually come in, and I have personally never tried what you are doing, but....I guess you can you can set up you name server(s) locally and use those, although I am not sure how that would work, since you would need two more static IP addresses for that and then register the names onto your domain (line ns1.yourdomain.com). Maybe you can just use your ISP's? Your best bet, call Network Solutions and see what they tell you do.
