i want a minimal install of fedora... my friends will have ssh accounts to this server and since they are all in the Info Sec field, im sure theyll try and mess with me... i dont mind, actually id like to see what chaos they can cause on my test home server, but id like them to have to work at it! so, im not familiar with fedora... i have an idea of what i can get rid of, but i was wondering what you guys thought too... thanks!

ps - so far, i did a bare install selecting no packages out of the installer (except vim)

Check out www.fedoranews.org, I belive Thomas Chung has a nice artical about what is and is NOT needed for Fedora core to run. If it was not Thomas, it is one of the writers.

Drop Fedora? why on earth would he want to do that? LFS is good, real good, but it is not for the faint of heart. I don't think he was looking to create his own distro, just trim down a good one ,and Fedora Core 3 is a good one.

i thought about it, but as BaVinc said, i dont want to create my own distro for this. also, i used to be a RHL7/8/9 user so i thought itd be fun to try out Fedora.

I mostly posted as an idea/joke. Do trial and error with removeing diffrent daemons/services and what have you, make note of what worked and what dosn't, also look at what progs/pckgs you will have installed and check out their dependencies.
