i've got a new box and i'm getting rid of xp :D, but i can't seem to get xwindows running. i've gone through this installation tons of times on tons of boxes without a hitch on x. the xwindows work at the installation, but when it starts up i get nothing.
how can i grab those configurations that installation uses?

what do you mean??? it it not booting to X and all your getting is a commandline like runlevel 3, have you styed typing in xf86config and configuring your GUI...
normally Anaconda configures this during install, but once i installed Redhat7.0 and anaconda misconfigured my video card, so i booted to another Linux install on the same computer and mounted the 7.0 install partition and manually edited xf86config-4 with a text editor and it fixed it (good reason to keep more than one Linux distro installed on one computer...

ok, i finally found a site which gave me informatin about the video portion of the mother board! ahhhh....
is the video imbedded on the motherboard? those usually suck, what i did to my crappy OEM computer is go in to the BIOS and disable the onboard video chip and enable PCI video and bought a PCI video card, both Redhat & slackware configured it good, Debian hated my Video card and would not configure X worth a darn, lol...
