Joining mpegs or Avi's

Is there a way to combine mpegs and or avi's together.

just telling you freshmeat.net or sourceforge are good places to find software for linux (also the software forum would have been better) but to answer your quesiotn, i have used virtualdub for windows and think its nice: http://www.virtualdub.org/index
edit: dang i think that prog (even though source is released and uses the GPL) is windows only :/, well check out those to sites (fresshmeat and sourceforge).

I have had success using cat. Your results may vary.

first read:
man cat

then simply conCATenate the files:
cat mpeg1 mpeg2 newmpeg
