Hello everyone.

Slackware user :D

I have been sucessful at getting the madwifi drivers working with the DLINK cards however I ran into some problems getting a linksys WMP11 card working.

Well here is the deal. I downloaded the ndiswrapper and it compiled and installed with no errors. NICE:D

So the first thing that I did was mount the Linksys Driver CD. Then I copied all of the *.inf files to a specific directory on my slackbox

After that I ran

ndiswrapper -i "drivername which I can't remember, I am at work now :-)"

It indicated that the driver installed correctly. :D

So then I proceeded with a modprobe ndiswrapper and that worked.

So I typed iwconfig and seen my wlan0 interface. I then configured the channel, essid and finally the key like I do all of my other wifi linux boxes.

Everything took from the console level ok.

Now the problem, I tried dhcpcd wlan0 and it just sat there forever. Usually with my other wifi boxes, when I type dhcpcd, after 3 or 4 seconds I have a dhcp address.

What is the deal here.

Also on the Linksys CD there are 3 inf files one being autorun.inf. Of couse I no not to use that one. I tried the last 2 inf files and the same problem occurs

Anyone have any sucess working with the ndiswrapper and linksys wmp11 card.

I also tried suse 9.2 because it is pretty good about picking up hardware and it did not work either.

Well after me getting pissed I ordered 2 orinoco cards from newegg.com

Can anyone help,

I have not been able to get that card working. I have about 3 of them. Anyone who knows how or if anyone knows of a debian distro that supports it out the box.

what you'll need to do is pull the linksys card out, chuck it out the window, and wait for the fedex guy :)

Funny that you ask that. Yes I did, that is how I learned how to install the ndiswrapper.

There has to be someone on this forum that has the same card and has made it work, at least I hope :(

Probably, I don't think there are to many questions that go unanswered here.

If you can't get the card to work you might want to look into Netgear's MA111 usb network card. I can tell you from personal experience it works well and wlan-ng is included in slackware's extras directory.
