is it possible for me to find the name or th e ip address of the firewall for my college network.

i have both a windows and linux a/c on the network.

btw i know the name and address of the proxy.

lets say the proxy is the firewall.

can i get any file sharing clients for linux for files that use port 21 or where i can bypass the firewall to use them.

only a few ports are open on this server.
port 21,22,80,6667 to name a few

linux version of audiogalaxy works fine coz it uses port 21.

any suggestions

That depends on the config of the firewall, you can contact the administrator and ask him for a share. But if you want files that are behind the proxy you can allways send them for a free webspace, and then you get them.
