I just installed Vectorlinux on another partition I have, and I have to say I really like it. It has IceWM which is pretty nice; I've never tried it out. I tried installing programs with slapt

slapt-get --install (someprogramname) and I found it didn't want to install xscreensaver, so I guess I have to learn how to edit some kind of sources.list config file for it.

I'm also using the same /home as for my other distro. I hope this doesn't cause any conflicts:D

I guess I'll find out when I boot back to ProMpepis.

Have any of you tried this distro? What did you think?

One more question if I may, I found that now if I boot back to mepis some of the settings from have applied from vectorlinux. Some of my programs, like xedit, now don't work. Anybody now why this happens?
Also, if I open aterm, at the top I get:

bash: /etc/profile.d/*.sh: No such file or directory.

Oh, and apt no longer works?!

This is kinda wierd, during install I thought I specified for Vector to leave my other partitions alone. All I did was allow it to also use /dev/hda7 for /home. But why has it caused these other problems?

i downlaoded soho5 the other day for my laptop. So far I havent seen anything that makes it "easier" than slackware.
it seems like a well done distro, but as much as I dont like debian distros Im kinda prefering ubuntu on my laptop

I installed it not to long ago on an extra box, and I must say I did like how well it was configured. Ran pretty nicely too. But I soon found my self back on DSL:D

During install I simply chose the option to continue using my /home (hda7) for home without formatting it. Is there maybe something in my /home that controls how I access programs and how they run? Time to start Googling!:)

Based on the errors I'm thinking that the new install overwrote some files in your home directory. Try this: List out all of your configuration files in your home directory using something like ls -lrt .* and see if you can determine what files may have been modified. They sometimes are modified anyways, but nevertheless this would be a good starting point.
