I just managed to share my cable connection amung 2 computers. One computer runs RedHat 7.2 and the other Windows 98. I am using a normal ethernet hub, not a switch. I have the cable modeem connected to the hub and then both computers connected to the hub. I have 1 (ONE) Ip address, no more. How does this work? We can both access the internet no problem, and its not like I have a firewall/gateway/router set up. Last time I tried this, with both Windows 98 machines it didn't work. Either one computer or the other got connected, but NEVER both. Any explaination would be great.

Hmmm... Interesting... Well, I'm stumped. You say you only have one IP address. Does that mean you've checked both computers and verified you're actually using the same IP to the Internet on both of them?

You either have to have separate IP's or a router to do nat. You can run nat through one of your boxes since you are running linux though. Might help to put this in the networking section...helps a bit.
