my school is letting me install linux on one of their old sparcs, but i cant seem to get linux to boot. one big problem is that they dont have remember any username/passwords so anything past login i cant get to.
First, i had burned the first CD of Debian-sparc, and (i hope) hooked the CD rom in correctly, but it didn't seem to access it at all. Second, i D/L a recue floppy (from ftp://ftp.us.debian.org/debian/dists/potato/main/disks-sparc/2.2.20-2000-12-03/images-1.44/root.bin) but when i restarted the machine it gave a few new lines of stuff and continued to boot. The only thing i have left to try is other floppies, maybe that first one was messed up.
P.S. does anyone know how to restart the comp from the keyboard (not loged-in) something like ctrl-alt-stop?
P.P.S. what is the name of that diamond key?
