I know that if the volumen level is down when I rip a cd, the resulting wave files will have the volumen level down. The question is this:

And what about if I turn the volumen level down at the middle of an encoding proces? E.g:

[$] oggenc audio_01.wav
Opening with wav module: WAV file reader
Encoding "audio_01.wav" to
"audio_01.ogg"
at quality 3.00
[40%] [1m30s remaining] |

Will the resulting encoded file will have the volumen level down no matter if when I ripped them the volumen level was up?

I mean, is the enconding process affected by the volumen level of the system in some sense?

I think it depends on the program and if the files get passed though your systems audio hardware while being encoded. An example: If the program allows you to listen to the audio file as it is being processed, then the volume control may well affect the encoding process. Which program are you using?

cdda2wav, cdparanoia, grip and KAudioCreator -although grip is not available on the Slackware distribution.

And if I have one "advanced" soundcard and if I encode a file with it using oggenc and I encode the same file but with an integrated audio device does the files differs in the encode quality?

I mean, the encode quality dependes on the "quality" of your soundcard?

Dont level the volume. It ruins the song!!!
